Stealing Your Personal Data & Information:
Based on my own experience, I have been using Turo since about 2013 as an early user and I would rate ZERO (0) stars if I had the option.
Background: I have had a valid Driver's License since renting on the Turo platform, having no felonies/misdemeanors ( non-moving OR moving violations) on my record, and I have no accidents on my license since a teenager being more than a decade ago.
On November 06, 2020, I tried to rent a vehicle and their system said I needed to verify my information (face and Driver's License) using a biometric scanner in their app. I sent in the information and it showed that I was verified and able to rent. When I went to rent seconds later, it then said reach out to Customer Support. It took me about five (5) hours to speak with customer support to complete the verification a second time because their poor chat bot technology kept resetting and pushing me to the front of the queue.
After finally speaking with the third (3rd) or fourth (4th) agent, I was confirmed as verified then-after, I tried to book again after waiting 6 (six) hours and it said I still was not verified regardless of what they stated verbally or written before.
This was ridiculous seeing I was in the city without a car to get around and they kept mentioning I was verified. I then decided to take other measures and respectfully requested that they delete my account and all my information from their records overall. The support system (now email, and not chat) said someone would reach out. 24 hours went by and nothing. I sent another email requesting an ETA and have yet to hear anything following up once a week since then.
No one has reached and I have requested this company to not resell, sell, distribute, copy, or reproduce any of my information or photos regarding my account. They still have not responded though I have been patient being about a month later since the original request to remove.
This leaves me to believe that this company does not care about Your data or the following:
- Retaining Customers - Respecting Paying Customer's Request - Protecting Customer Data and Information - Disregarding PCI Compliance Regulations and Governed Laws
- Practicing Professional customer success and Providing Proper Channels for Support
This leaves reason to believe that YOU ARE ONLY A TRANSACTION AND DATA FOCAL POINT. I can provide further information to show all above is true if needed : )
The Turo app is great, it provides a chance to ease a renters mind on the car and trip details. The one thing I would recommend is a better explanation of the Turo trip charges/fees in earlier in the process. I found a car for 120 a day, which would be 240, however Turo adds the extra fee and there's no set rate, it just seems random. It can really be frustrating that the price can make the rental less affordable and you have find another vehicle to match your budget....all while hoping the fee doesn't price you out again. Other than that Turo is a great idea and it works pretty solid.

We took our older teenaged boys to the Keys. I wanted a Jeep and looked pretty hard to find one.. I stumbled upon this app/site and got such an amazing deal... My host was amazing to work with. and the Jeep was PERFECT for driving the coast.. we had a blast.. thank you and I'm telling EVERYONE about TURO!!!!!
It was very easy, the owner of the car was very easy to work with and gave a clean nice car.
No rental cars were available through rental car agencies so someone suggested Turo —like an AirBnB for cars! If the price is right, I’d use it again. What I really liked was the convenience of getting the car from the car park instead of waiting for a shuttle and then going to wait in line.
This was my first Turo Rental and I must admit it was everything I expected and overall an excellent experience.
Turo is a great app. I found what I was looking for and had a great experience! One small thing, my host had to rebook me in a new car due to an inconvenience on her end. It was the same car just a different color and same price. Turo tried to charge me a $40 difference. I saw the hosts price and it was the exact same as before but she had to reduce her price by $40 so I would get my original price- and I still came out of $6 because she went down so much. I’m not sure why either of us had to come out of more money but I’m curious to where it went. I haven’t been able to get in contact with anyone about this matter.
First-time user. Was able to book a car rental for one week, during a busy period. However, the car was dirty inside & out at pickup. Host told me I wouldn't be charged for cleaning - I have never been charged for cleaning by larger companies, and they give me clean cars to start with. Car had issues the next morning, and after a short while the Check Engine Light came on. Turo wanted me to return the car and cancel the entire reservation, which was fine with me, but the transaction was never entered into their system. Was on hold for over an hour and thought the issue was resolved, but after returning from vacation, still hadn't been updated online. It took another lengthy call before reaching a third agent, who says she processed the credit. Will be pleasantly surprised if this really happens...
My first car rental was great! This second time around I'm very displeased. I was charged $730 and had I known beforehand it was going to cost that much I would have chosen a different vehicle. The prices shown when scrolling through car options is NOT facts or even close lol. That being said, ayye if u got it like that, then this is place to go! They come correct with variety, style & luxury. The service was great, everyone I met was koo ppl. . whips all clean, shiny & like new! And super convenient as they will deliver right to ya!
Enquired about hiring a car in Arizona with Davy and even though the cars are amazing Davys attitude is nothing but arrogant and disturbing all because my political views differ I was insulted
Not a good ambassador for this business as seems more interested in belittling people who’s views differ then renting a car out. Would not recommend Davy at all far to rude
I suppose your overall experience with Turo.com will totally depend on your host and dependabilityof their vehicle(s). I had a great host that was very accommodating to my night shift work schedule. I would suggest getting a host with more than just a few positive reviews and a vehicle that isn't extremely old.

It's still kind of mom and pop but it seems to be real. The chat was completely broken when I tried it but the phone picked up. However, despite the U.S. number advertising 24/7, that does not include billing questions. This is fairly typical so I would not begrudge them for it.

Totally Legit. I rented a car for a week. I had no problems contacting the owner and he was legit.
